General comments
Altijd nabehandelen met primaquine tenzij contra-indicatie. Nabehandeling P. vivax en ovale met primaquine ZO-Azie: 21 dagen
Riamet innemen bij voorkeur met vet voedsel.
Bij gebruik Riamet: Follow-up na behandeling geïndiceerd op dag 8 en 14 na start behandeling i.v.m. risico op post-therapeutische hemolytische anemie en op dag 28 na start behandeling i.v.m. risico op recrudenscentie
Mefloquine: Contraïndicaties: kinderen < 3 mnd en/of < 5 kg, psychiatrische stoornissen en convulsies in de familie-anamnese. Gelijktijdig gebruik met kinine, kinidine en chloroquine kan electrocardiografische afwijkingen veroorzaken en kans op convulsies verhogen (mefloquine toedienen 12 uur na staken van kininetherapie); gelijktijdig gebruik met diverse anti-epileptica (o.a. fenobarbital, fenytoïne) kan convulsies veroorzaken.
Nabehandeling mer primaquine niet tijdens zwangerschap en lactatie
